How does the 48-hour timer work?

When you tap "I'M ALIVE", a 48-hour countdown begins. You'll receive reminders at 6 hours and 1 hour before expiration. If the timer expires without a check-in, your followers and emergency contacts are notified.

How do I add emergency contacts?

Go to Profile > Settings > Emergency Contacts. You can add contacts with their name, phone number, and email. They'll receive SMS notifications if your timer expires.

How do I find and follow other users?

Tap the search icon on the Following tab or Status tab. Search for users by username (minimum 3 characters). Tap on a user to view their profile and follow them.

How do I send messages?

You can only message users who follow you back (mutual followers). Go to the Messages tab and start a conversation with any mutual follower.

What happens when my timer expires?

Your status changes to "Dead" and your followers receive a push notification. Your emergency contacts receive an SMS alert. When you check in again, everyone is notified that you're back.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile > Settings > Account Info > Delete Account. This permanently deletes all your data including messages, followers, and emergency contacts.

Is this app a replacement for emergency services?

No. Not Dead Right? is not an emergency service and does not contact 911 or emergency responders. It's designed to help you stay connected with friends and family, not replace professional emergency or medical alert systems.

Troubleshooting

Not receiving notifications?

  • Check that notifications are enabled in your device Settings > Not Dead Right?
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Make sure the app is not in Low Power Mode restrictions
  • Try logging out and logging back in

Can't sign in?

  • Ensure you're using the same Apple ID you originally signed up with
  • Check your internet connection
  • Try restarting the app
  • Contact support if the issue persists

Timer not working correctly?

  • Pull down to refresh on the Status screen
  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled for the app
